Former Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell denied improperly using campaign funds to pay for personal expenses and dismissed reports of a federal criminal investigation as "obviously politically motivated."

"There has been no impermissible use of campaign funds. … I have never taken a dime in salary from the campaign," she said on CBS' "The Early Show". O'Donnell also said she hadn't been "notified of any investigation from any federal authorities."

A pretty much canned, knee-jerk response. If there's nothing to worry about...then she shouldn't be worried.

No sh*t, politically motivated? I'm stunned. Who knew politicians and/or political parties would attack one another? This is a sad day indeed now that I've come to realize this about our world. My coffee just doesn't taste as good as it used to.

ugh.

She's a bright one. And politically motivated has nothing to do with getting caught doing things against the law.

To the Democratic Party, Christine O'Donnell is just another whackjob candidate they defeated in the midterms. If the investigation is "politically motivated", it's on the part of the Delaware GOP for the upset of a great Senator and GOP stalwart, Mike Castle, by a perpetual candidate.

If she just wrinkles her nose like Samantha Stevens she can just "POOF" make it all go away....but if Uncle Arthur gets wind of it he will out her to the witches council which will bring the wrath of Endora down on her.....haha these silly witches.....meanwhile Darren shows Larry Tate his latest proposal for the Bergman furniture account....the yuks just keep coming.

Waahhh, they're picking on me! And those political critics who said I did it (the ones I hired for my own campaign, who watched over the accounts), well, they are too!

You're on the correct path but it's not the Democrats who should give a crap. It's the Tea Party Republicans/Libertarians or whatever they call themselves now. The GOP is making O'Donnell an example.

I've said this in other seeds. This is a not so subtle order from the GOP/RNC to the Tea Party to back off before the 2012 run-up to election. They don't want the Tea Party to split their vote.

No one has asked her the obvious, "Then what is your source of income?"

She doesn't need income, the campaign pays all her personal bills directly, and she doesn't report that as income so that she A: can use those funds illegally, and B: doesn't have to pay taxes on it.

I've said this in other seeds. This is a not so subtle order from the GOP/RNC to the Tea Party to back off before the 2012 run-up to election. They don't want the Tea Party to split their vote.

Gee, whoda thunk that the same thing is happening to the tea party today, as happened to the brown shirts back in the 1930's? I mean, besides everyone that called them modern day brown-shirts...

King Obama and his ACLU thugs are attacking Christine O'Donnel because she outed them about their secret experiments of giving mice fully functional human brains.

The average weight of a human brain is 8lbs, how is a mouse supposed to carry around all that weight?? Oh wait... O'Donnel's brain doesn't weigh anywhere NEAR that much... a mouse would have no problem lifting that pea-sized thing.

Why would the Dems want to attack her? Heck, they want her to run, again!!!

If I was Obama, I would order Justice to leave her alone, send her a bunch of money, and covertly encourage her to run for another national office. Maybe VP behind Palin.

Palin/O'Donnel 2012. It surely would be "the end of the world as we know it."

Stop the ignorance.

"There has been no impermissible use of campaign funds. … I have never taken a dime in salary from the campaign," she said on CBS' "The Early Show".

From what I've read thus far paying oneself a "salary" wasn't the base of the investigation, it was paying her living expenses under the guise of paying for a campaign headquarters in her own home. The latter is plainly illegal and the FEC has had laws about that for quite sometime now.

O'Donnell also said she hadn't been "notified of any investigation from any federal authorities."

Yeah, funny how that works, the Feds aren't in the habit of notifying the individuals they investigate initially. If the Grand Jury, which is most likely looking into these charges, find that the FEC laws have been broken she will be notified through the proper channels.

Can't wait to see her doing the perp walk, besides, silver bracelets would probably look pretty good on her (not to mention striped jumpsuits)!

Witch....I mean "witch" charges is she referring to...the recent set of allegations from 2010 or her earlier failed campaigns for everything.

Considering who is doing the investigation, this isn't just sophomoric politicking.

She has probably committed felonies.

Shouldn't she take responsibility for her actions?

Poor Chrisie; the "Witch" complaining about a WITCH-HUNT? I hope, after being "waterboarded",a uniquely Republican thing, she explains how she has survived over the last FIVE years with no apparent source of EARNED income! Poor devil, asked for the lime-light, and now is complaining that it is too bright and getting too hot! What is this,a spoof of the fairy tail; "THE THREE BEARS"?

Oh, I forget,Teabaggers are indeed detatched from reality! Least we forget, political Witch hunts were very much a part of the Bush/Cheney,Republicans, White House and Justice Department! We can ask "Valerie Plame" or her husband. I guess the Regressives don't believe in, what goes around-comes... around! Too busy pointing fingers at everybody else....I guess!!!

Now is a good time to see if she really is a witch, if she is then a twitch of her nose and this should all go away. Personally I think she was very defensive about the whole thing, that is usually a good indicator of some sort of guilt.

In a trial by ordeal, supposed witches were immersed into a vat of water or pond, and taken out after some time, thus and given the opportunity to confess. This process was usually repeated until the victim drowned or gave up and confessed, leading to them being executed in another way, usually hanging or, more rarely, burning. Also, if they had their hands/feet tied, they would be left under water. If they floated they were guilty of witchcraft, if they sank they were innocent but would have usually drowned anyway.

    Is this Constitutional?

Sounds like waterboarding to me... and Bush said that's Constitutional... and Obama declined to prosecute Bush for it even after Bush admitted that he gave the orders himself... so it must be... or at least there is no penalty for violating the constitution in this regard.

Seems she can some learn some new tricks. Wouldn't be surprised to discover that she can draw a salary from the PAC versus the campaign fund restrictions. Teabaggers love a good scam when it suits their purposes. Of course when the other parties do it, it is nothing but a political games.

Rachel Maddow had a cow when Odonnel talked positively about basic Christian doctrine. It was funny to watch the Madcow foam at the mouth and spew vile hatred towards her. It is readily apparent that Odonnel was in a tight race and by focusing MSNBC hatred on her alone to throw the election against her liberals could some how feel better about the major losses America was handing them in the midterms. Better to think about and gloat about one loss than the many that will become painfully apparent January 6th. Also it is a warning to Tea Party members directly before the start of the next session. The timing is calculated precisely.

Ah, perhaps my Bible is incomplete. It lacks the qualifier about 'white lies' being okay. Actually....I don't think my Bible has the word 'lie' in the Ten Commandments at all. It specifically talks about 'bearing false witness' against my neighbor.

My point was....Committing a Sin does not make you a non-christian. And Christians sin, they are still human.

I'm not trying to defend 'Religion' here. I had what sounds like similar experience as you two. Private Christian School (Gag). I detest what organized Religion had done to the simple message Jesus was trying to give us.

But...I also heartily disagree with using a dozen bad apples to prove that the whole Orchard is sour.

Feel free to mock both Palin and O'Donnel (and the Vatican) for using Faith as a tool to abuse power. But I think it is the height of arrogance to assume that means you know how all (or even 'most') Christians think and behave.

Shrug - Just my opinion - and we don't have to agree. I mean....Is it any wonder why Repub's have a lock on that voting block when the alternative is to be treated like this?

A second motivation is that she is a Christian woman so that makes her even a better target for Jesus hating liberals.

I do believe that you are getting Christianity and hypocrisy mixed up again. Don't worry it is a common problem with bible beaters.

I can only go by the Christians who seize the title in the public eye. Perhaps when Christian leaders denounce Palin and O'Donnell for using the religion out of context, you'll have a point.

And you might want to get current--many religious people including Christians, are sick of the GOP and their lying, warmongering ways. The GOP hardly has a lock on Christians.

Bearing false witness is a perfect name for what O'Donnell and Palin do daily. I somehow think God won't like them much when it comes time for judgment. I only wish I can be there to see their shock as they are directed to the elevator heading down and down.

Those who profess to be Christians and those who follow the christian doctrineare usually two different people. One shouts their Christianity for all to hear, the other all can see it.

Dave....tg seems typical of the faux christians. You know the ones. They are the ones who betch and cry about liberals who "hate" christians while they are the ones who can't seem to practice what Jesus preached!

After losing two treasurers in 2009, O'Donnell named herself campaign treasurer until this past summer. Another short-term treasurer took over in August and resigned less than two months later, at which point campaign manager Matt Moran added the treasurer's role to his responsibilities.

As to where she gets her money... okay, in the christian spirit of "revelation" here we go: yep, by day, a slope-headed reactionary politico -- by night, a slope-headed reactionary witch-hooker. That is, until she becomes "too toxic" for anyone to "get behind her"...

Christine is an example of what happens when to much light is shined upon her. Christines previous runs for government office were under the radar so she could get away with improprieties, but this time too many people took notice because she actually became the Republican Candidate.

The article is a misquote. What she actually said is that the federal probe into improper use of her campaign finances was "a witchhunt" which, in her case, was just another form of "political masturbation." And that she expected to be exonerated of all charges because "I am not a witch" and "I don't masturbate...I am you!"

The loophole Chrissy thought she had found was nothing more than a whole lot of trouble. The minute she opened her mouth was self incriminating. Now that the investigation is underway she's trying to deflect with accusations claiming liberal conspiracy. Come on woman?

The law clearly states that you can not use campaign funds to pay rent or mortgage even if a part of the residence is used for the campaign. She's nothing more than another scumbag opportunist trying to swindle her way through life. What a piece of work...

I have never taken a dime in salary from the campaign,"

No, she never did take campaign money as "salery" she just paid her personal bills with it.

Had she won the election, she might have been able to claim political motivation...But she lost... at this point she's just another criminal looking for an out.

Unfortunately, she'll go back to being a talking head. Her only punishment for stealing will be to pay it back so she'll be back on TV show yakking it up.

I do wish that we could get over the idea that this has ANYTHING to do with Christine O'Donnells religion beliefs. She is being investigated for possible financial irregularities during a political campaign.
And now we see that Miss 'mice with fully functioning human brains' O'Donnells defence seems to be that everybody is out to get her, from the left, from the right and even from her own former campaign workers. "We've been warned by multiple high-ranking Democrat insiders that the Delaware Democrat and Republican political establishment is jointly planning to pull out all the stops to ensure I would never again upset the apple cart." Hey, Christine, why would DEMOCRAT insiders (high-ranking or otherwise) warn a somewhat squirrely failed Tea Party candidate of such a campaign even in the unlikely event that it were being waged? I would imagine that, given the comments you have made in the past, and continue to make to this day, Democrats would welcome your continued comedic presence on the political stage. Didn't you once claim to have access to classified NSA information about 'Chinas plan to take over America' due to your work with overseas missionaries? Now there may be some who might say that your comments in the past have seemed somewhat irrational but now those same people might be forgiven for wondering if you're not now sliding into full-blown paranoia.

There are those that seem to revel in their professional victimhood. Without it, they would have to rant against the real problems in their lives instead of the made up ones..

It's kinda hard to do this for Christine or the millions of other like her, who keep throwing in one's face how wonderfully "Christian" they are, all the while conducting themselves no differently (and often WORSE) than us plain old sinners.
